Sustainable development at Fassbind Hotels

Commitment to sustainable development has been part of the chain's DNA since its inception. Constant efforts have been made to ensure sustainable operations, both for environmental reasons and for greater efficiency. In 2019, this commitment was formalized with the acquisition of specialized certifications in the hotel industry. Two labels were obtained: Green Key and Swisstainable.

Green Key

Green Key, an international and independent label established by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), encourages continuous improvement in sustainability through education, innovation, and the promotion of best practices.
An annual audit assesses the performance of each establishment according to several criteria: waste management, water and energy conservation, compliance with local regulations, etc.

Our Cornavin and Cristal hotels are Green Key certified. The other establishments are in the process of being certified.

Swisstainable

The Swisstainable program, established by the Swiss Tourism Federation as part of the Swiss Confederation's sustainability strategy, aims to promote sustainable development within tourism companies and organizations in Switzerland.
Its goal is to highlight the sector's commitment and support service providers in their efforts to become more sustainable.

Some recent initiatives implemented in our establishments

The Cristal, Le Square, and Ambassador hotels are equipped with solar panels, enabling them to cover part of their electricity needs with solar energy.

In order to reduce waste from single-use products, hygiene product dispensers have been installed in all rooms. This measure significantly reduces our waste production while offering a more environmentally friendly product.

Teams are encouraged to recommend local and eco-friendly activities to visitors and to encourage them to walk, cycle, or use public transportation to get there.
When choosing equipment, we prioritize energy-efficient options. For example, all our establishments are now equipped with LED light bulbs, known for their low energy consumption and increased longevity. Furthermore, as part of our commitment to protecting the environment and health, we use certified cleaning products made from neutral ingredients that are not harmful to wastewater.

To formalize our commitment, our objectives, and the means to achieve them, an Environmental Charter has been drawn up.
